Institutional Policy for Students with Veterans Benefits
In compliance with Section 103 of PL 115-407 “Veteran Benefits and Transaction Act of 2018” the University allows any Covered Individual, who is entitled to educational assistance under Chapter 31, Veteran Readiness and Employment, or Chapter 33, Post!9/11 GI Bill® Benefits, to attend or participate in the course of education for the period beginning on the date the individual provides the educational institution with a certificate of eligibility for educational assistance under chapter 31 or 33 (a “certificate of eligibility” may also include a “Statement of Benefits” obtained from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) website!eBenefits, or a VAF form 28!1905 for chapter 31 authorization purposes) and ends on the earlier of the following dates:
- The date the VA payment is made to the institution.
- 90 days after the date the institution certified the tuition and fees after receipt of the certificate of eligibility.
The University will not impose any sanctions, including assessment of late fees, denial of access to classes, libraries, or other institutional facilities, or the requirement that a Covered Individual borrow additional funds, on any Covered Individual because the individual’s inability to meet their financial obligation to the institution due to the delay in the disbursement of VA funds under chapter 31 or 33.
